Wow. How to describe a wild film like this…..perhaps the most iconic film of the 60s about rebellion in both form and content. The American television pop group The Monkees star in this outrageous and out of control “anti-masterpiece”. This is a 1968 psychedelic “comedy adventure” motion picture suicide, directed by Bob Rafelson (Five Easy Pieces). Basically, these four musicians were suppose to be America’s answer to The Beatles, but the difference is that at one point The Monkees got tired of all the hype, all the commercialization, and all the gimmicks. They felt like they were puppets that had to dance to the tune of the big corporations. So this film, which they wrote with Jack Nicholson, was their collective “fuck you” to cinema and the business world. Certainly one of the most bizarre, insane films in the history of filmmaking.

The film is studded with cameo appearances, including Frank Zappa, boxer Sonny Liston, Annette Funicello (from the Mickey Mouse Show), Jack Nicholson and Dennis Hopper.

This will be a high-definition projection.
