This is an early feature film from visionary Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia, and its certainly one that packs a wallop. No wonder it has become a cult classic in its home country of Spain, and that Pedro Almodovar loved this film so much. The plot set-up is enough to give you an idea how insane this film is…..

A priest discovers that the birth of the anti-christ is just around the corner….in other words we are talking about the apocalypse here. And guess what- the priest finds out that the anti-christ is going to be born in Madrid on Christmas day! So the priest sets out to find the devil in order to stop the apocalypse. But if one wants to meet the devil, how does one do that? After all, the devil isn’t exactly hanging out with the Christians, that’s for sure. So the priest decides that he has to go criminal and commit unforgivable crimes in order to tempt the devil into a visit.

Like I said, this is a black comedy in its highest form. Totally over-the-top, wonderfully imaginative and beautifully executed! This will be a high-definition screening.
